How does a box scheme work?

Once a week you receive organic products from Local Suppliers and National Suppliers and then distribute these to your customers. They can collect them from you at home or eg. a local school and/or you can do deliveries. You make a profit on the sales which is your profit to keep.

This is what you do:

1. Talk to your Go-Organic Local Suppliers and National Suppliers (who we'll connect you with) and make a list of products you can sell
2. Call your customers – your friends, family, school, church, sports and social clubs

Weekly what you do is:

1. Take orders (say over a weekend or Monday) or do a standard regular order box of what’s available in season
2. Receive deliveries (say on a Wednesday) and arrange them into customers' orders in one or more boxes per customer
3. Customers collect them asap - either from your home or school or church hall
4. Customers pay you when they collect or before

We’ll provide on email a template for your product list and for your invoices.

Where do you find customers?

Start with your friends and family in your area. Get more customers by promoting yourself at local schools, community groups and social clubs and local housing or golf estates.

If you have what we call OOH (Out of Home) businesses around you  like restaurants, B&B’s, hotels, conference centres and so on they are also potential customers.

How will we promote you?

Remember there will be only one Go-Organic Local Trader per area, operating under licence to the name Go-Organic - a registered trademark and powerful organic brand name in South Africa.

We will list you on our Local Traders page and promote the network through our database with regular newsletters.

We'll also supply you with a decal to display with your contact number and a suburb/location where you operate. Plus a logo (in three sizes) to feature on your website; as well as on your invoices and letterheads - which we suggest you print directly from your computer.

Where do you find suppliers?

We’ll give you exclusive, password-controlled access to Go-Organic's Local Suppliers - farmers and producers mostly from your area or nearby areas and National Suppliers based away from your area.

We’ll also give them your contact details.

Where do you get boxes?

We encourage recycling so ask local companies for suitable, clean cardboard boxes that they would usually throw away. Ask your customers to bring them back each week so you can reuse them while they are still clean.

What products can you sell?

Start with the straightforward ones like fresh fruit and veg.

As more suppliers become available you can offer more variety and increase your business. National Suppliers can supply you products that may not be produced near you like grains and olive oil and even organic household and health care products.

Our goal is to give South Africans easy access to as wide a range of organic products as possible. The products most people want are fresh fruit and vegetables, followed by eggs and dairy.

A Local Trader can start by selling products that can be stored at room temperature as long as it is cool. As one’s business and suppliers grow, there may be some products that need a fridge or freezer.
